Cathie’s Magical Memories is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing joy and healing to children who have lost a parent or are navigating the challenges of having a terminally ill parent. We create opportunities for families to experience the magic of Walt Disney World together—stepping away from grief and worry, and instead embracing moments of laughter, love, and connection.
Our mission is rooted in compassion, joy, and community. Every trip we provide is more than just a vacation—it’s a chance for families to create cherished memories, honor their loved ones, and begin writing new chapters filled with hope.
We believe every child deserves moments of magic, even in the midst of heartbreak. Through Disney’s wonder, we help families heal, grow closer, and discover that while loss may change their world, love and joy can still shine brightly.
Our Story
Cathie’s Magical Memories was founded in March 2024 by sisters Lindsay and Courtnay Dollinger in honor of their mom, Cathie. For 16 years, Cathie courageously battled breast cancer, but she never let it stop her from creating moments of joy with her family. Some of their happiest memories came from their annual trips to Walt Disney World—dancing down Main Street, U.S.A., laughing together, and soaking in the magic that made them feel whole.
When Cathie passed away in 2015, the family’s world shifted. Grief was overwhelming, and life felt uncertain. Yet, in time, Lindsay, Courtnay, and their dad, Gary, found comfort in returning to Walt Disney World. There, in the place they had shared so many happy moments, they began to heal and rediscover joy together.
That experience sparked a calling. They realized how powerful it could be for families facing loss to have time away, surrounded by magic, love, and laughter. Out of this realization, Cathie’s Magical Memories was born—to honor their mom’s legacy and to share that gift of healing with others.
Today, every family we serve is part of that story. By walking alongside them in their grief and giving them the gift of Disney magic, we carry forward Cathie’s spirit of love, resilience, and joy—one magical memory at a time.
